Create a daily schedule of enrichment and athletic activities that reflects your personal interests and talents. Choose from 71 courses in art, computers, cooking, outdoor adventure, science, and theater, as well as from 22 competitive and non-competitive athletic activities. The program utilizes the extensive facilities of the University, including athletic fields, pool, gymnasium, computer labs, and art studios. More than 100 teachers, coaches, and college students staff the program.

Gain hands-on experience working with Summer Place campers and faculty, develop leadership and communication skills, participate in a Red Cross Aquatic Leadership program, attend fun and informative workshops on group dynamics and values clarification, and enjoy challenging off-campus field trips. This program is led by a high school teacher and coach with 20 years of Summer Place experience.

Combining the fun of camp with appropriate developmental learning experiences,
children are exposed to theme-related literature, art, science, music, and dramatic
play, along with nature walks and field trips. Both programs take place at the
University of Hartford Magnet School and are under the direction of two experienced elementary school teachers. Red Cross swim lessons are part of each Kinderplace
day.

Learn what it means to work in a creative ensemble. This program provides campers with professional musical theater training, performance opportunities,
and daily workshops. After five weeks of intensive theatrical instruction, the program culminates in five performances of the rock and roll smash hit
Grease at the University’s new Handel Performing Arts Center. Past performances include
Oklahoma!, High School Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, Once Upon a Mattress, Peter Pan, Footloose, and
Fiddler on the Roof.
