Cheerleading and Dance are taught by our dance instructors and each has a final performance at the end of the two-week session.
Fitness Training includes a variety of high- and low-impact aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities, such as stretching, jogging, power walking, and tag. Depending on the group’s interest, we have also done water workouts in the pool and lessons on nutrition and health care. Note: We do not use weight-lifting equipment other than hand weights.
Frisbee includes a variety of Frisbee games, including Frisbee Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, and Frisbee Baseball.
Game of the Day activities take place both inside and out, and include games like volleyball, TsegBall, badminton, ping pong, bocce, ga-ga (dodge ball), and much more.
Indoor Soccer/Broom Ball takes place inside the intramural gym. The smaller space makes for fast-paced action and lots of scoring. Broom Ball is like street hockey, but played with soft sticks.
Karate is taught by a professional black belt instructor and participants receive a belt at the completion of the two-week session. Note: There is an additional fee of $23 per karate course for this professional instruction.
New Games focuses on cooperation and problem-solving games that foster teamwork and communication skills.
Recreational Swim participants are tested for basic swimming ability on the first day of the session. Campers must be at least a Red Cross Level 3 swimmer in order to take Recreational Swim. Campers who do not pass the basic test will be placed in lessons at the discretion of the swim director.

Sport Pals is an all-afternoon option for our youngest campers, which includes daily swim lessons, a variety of recreational activities, games, read-aloud time, and a popsicle at break. This group of campers remains with the same counselors in a nurturing environment for the entire afternoon. Sport Pals campers who choose the early-dismissal option will still get their daily swim lesson.
Swim Lessons are taught by the Summer Place swim instructors and follow the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim curriculum. Swim lessons are held in the outdoor pool at the Sports Center, weather permitting.

Tennis
All grade levels (1–9) have two options:
Tennis I
is for campers who are new to the sport or have limited experience. This class focuses on learning the basic shots and skills, and practicing them with group games and activities. For the youngest campers, we may use lead-up activities to work on lateral movement and hand-eye coordination, if the instructor feels that it is developmentally appropriate for the group.
Tennis II is for campers who have some experience with the sport. Classes will review basics, work on more advanced skills, and practice them in group and individual games. |
Yard
Games
involves activities you might play in your backyard, such as horseshoes, bocce, hacky sack, water-balloon toss, Slip ’n Slide, tag, wiffleball, kickball, Parachute, and Capture the Flag.
Yoga is taught by a certified instructor who specializes in working with young children. Various poses and correct breathing techniques are introduced. |
